Belly dance is an ancient art form. I love how, at its heart, it’s a person interpreting music with her body, and radiating it out to an audience (maybe) so the music becomes visual. And it can feel so full of primal energy and elegant at the same time.

A great thing about dancer sessions is that even if a dancer might be a little nervous about my camera and my lights, etc., if I put on some kind of Turkish jam tunes, it brings out this dance joyfulness and there’s no more nerves. She creates her invisible audience around us and dances.
