I so enjoyed hearing this jazz trio with @zahiligz and @i_ashby (while I was photographing an event in Jamaica Plain last week). And I really loved the visuals when I turned to see them so actively listening to each other and eating up those solos and making their own beautiful reality up on that stage. Mmm-mm.

Last year was my first time photographing behind t

Last year was my first time photographing behind the scenes for the Boston Marathon medical support teams. A feast for a photographer, so much color and faces and emotion, buzzing with energy. Such a huge operation, and so organized. All those medical volunteers, so efficient and kind. Runners who have made it past the finish line, celebrating and using their last shreds of energy to get all the way to their gear. (Or in some cases, bouncing along still with plenty of energy!)

I'm excited to go do it again tomorrow!

Hey, did you know there is a women's history trail

Hey, did you know there is a women's history trail in Massachusetts? It's the National Votes for Women Trail -- it has five sites in Massachusetts, and I've been covering the dedication events for @suffrage100ma. There are speeches about the current state of affairs, some history about the rulebreakers and visionary women getting honored... but the most exciting moment is always when they unveil the historical marker with a flourish, to applause and photos.

Here are moments in @hamiltonhallsalem, @danvershistoricalsociety and Worcester. They honor Sarah Wall (refused to pay her property taxes as long as she was denied the right to vote), the Remond family (who worked for suffrage and abolition of slavery) and Anne Page who worked for suffrage. People worked so hard just to get us this far...

I went to the LIFE magazine photography exhibit, and many of those vintage photos were powerful, but this one spoke to me in another way. -- by Henri Cartier-Bresson, who was assigned to make lifestyle photos in Peiping in 1948.

I've been doing tai chi for ages, and even though these guys are 75 years distant and continents away, they seem familiar. I'm like, Hey, check out that guy's Pick up Needle from the Sea Bottom! Like I could jump into that photo and know what to do. Felt strangely connected. Appreciation to all the teachers who have passed this art from person to person across generations and cultures. : )

Photos from @wellesleychamberplayers most recent concert, with @grant.houston @evrenozelpiano and @jonswensencello Next concert is coming up -- next Sunday Feb 26 at 3... with Ravel, Tchaikovsky and Moonlight Sonata. Dana Hall in Wellesley. It's nice to sit close where you can fully experience not just the sound, but the physicality of their mastery, and see all the listening and interaction as they bring the notes off the page and into the air.

@lucialinviolin (gifted violinist with the #bostonsymphony, among other things). A magical bit of this photo session was when I asked her to play for a bit... and something about that gorgeous, rich sound pouring over the sunny field... so unexpected and kind of just for me... Man!

We made these portraits for a new website introducing her project, In Tandem. It's dedicated to bringing new voices to, and breaking barriers of color, in classical music. See lucialin dot com for duet videos from the project.

That time i photographed @moodystreetcircuskid and @cirquemelinda being amazing on their aerial equipment, and we were done and i was starting to pack up and they said, Okay, your turn!

What!? I was skeptical, but when the prima coaches are telling you yes... of course you have to go for it!

1) showing me my first move. 2) hoist assist. 3) adjusting to how high it feels to mere mortals. 4) I learned one hand is for styling and one hand is for: Death Grip!
