Lucia Lin with the Wellesley Symphony Orchestra

Shooting this kind of event requires the usual elements: you need to capture expressive faces with good lighting. The problem is just that you need to do this unobtrusively! I don’t want anyone to hear a camera click at this kind of event, so when the percussionists stand up, that’s a good sign to be ready because the music is about to be loud.

Lucia Lin, the soloist, was amazing. The voice of her violin sounded like engaging storytelling… but you didn’t know the exact words of the story, just the arc of the emotion. With the Wellesley Symphony Orchestra.
